“We are delighted to welcome you, your crews and boats to The Great River Race 2007. As usual, any traditional-style, coxed boat, propelled by a minimum of four oars or paddles, without sliding seats or riggers, may take part. Every year brings a new type to test the handicappers, so however unusual yours might be, please contact us to see if it qualifies. Each boat is computer-handicapped according to its potential performance, so everyone has an equal chance in this ‘slowest away first, fastest last’ handicap race.”
